Why Gracie Barra

Tussa Alencar Black Belt Lineage

Professor Edgar holds a 1st-degree black belt under Master Roberto 'Tussa' Alencar — 15 years on the mats, Gracie Barra certified. Every adult class is led by a black belt, not a colored belt covering a shift.

Homeschool-Friendly Mornings

Mon & Wed 10 AM classes for homeschool families. Combined age groups from Tiny Champions (3-4) through Juniors (10-13) — siblings train together, and the class counts toward homeschool PE. The only BJJ school on the Schertz-Cibolo corridor with dedicated morning slots.

Built for Cibolo Families

Tiny Champions at age 3, Little Champions I & II, Juniors, and adult evenings — our schedule fits Cibolo family life. After-school kids sessions, 6:30 PM adult classes, Saturday mornings for everyone — one block off FM 1103 in Cibolo Valley Square, free parking.

The Proven Gracie Barra Curriculum

The same structured curriculum taught in 1,000+ Gracie Barra schools worldwide. Real belt-and-stripe progression — every class builds on the last, and your rank transfers to any GB academy if you move or travel.

First Class Always Free

About GB Cibolo

“When I looked at Cibolo, I saw families who want their kids to grow up with confidence, discipline, and real skills — and homeschool parents who'd been driving into San Antonio just to find a structured morning activity. After 15 years on the mats under Master Tussa Alencar, I opened Gracie Barra Cibolo in 2024 to bring the world's most trusted Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu curriculum to one of Guadalupe County's fastest-growing communities. We train weeknight evenings, Saturday mornings, and Mon/Wed at 10 AM for homeschool families. Whether you train with us for a week or a lifetime, you'll leave every class stronger than you walked in.”

What They Say

“My husband and our two kids, ages 8 and 6, started training at Gracie Barra Cibolo six months ago, and we are all extremely satisfied with that decision. The kids are getting stronger and more confident under the guidance of the professional coaches. There is no judgment or pressure; instead, they focus on discipline and achieving goals with the coaches' support. It's also a great sport for adults to build strength. The facility is clean and tidy. Absolutely recommend it!”

“We have had our 8 year old in Jiu Jitsu at Gracie Barra since February of 2025 and have absolutely loved every second of it. We now have our 5 year old signed up and are so excited to watch them both grow in this sport! The gym is 20/10 — very professional and respectful towards everyone. I love that the professors push the kids to reach their highest potential. Any expectations we had have been blown out of the water!”

“Our son has been going here for a few months now and when they had their parents day class a few weeks ago I wanted to join too. I had my intro class today — both Coach Zaza and Edgar were helpful getting through the moves and positions. My partners were also great with their guidance. It was a great workout and I'll be switching up my workouts to fit in training.”
